I've had problems with internet dropouts corrupting part of a download so it had to be redone from a lower percentage every so often before, but nothing like this with every torrent. utorrent will exit, but not properly shut down (hang with the process still running), and if I close that process and restart, I can download the file from 0.0% normally. The same thing happens if I try to close utorrent normally with the download stopped at 99.9%. When I restart utorrent, the torrent will display as 0.0% and start from the beginning, this time completing normally. I can stop the download (it stays at 99.9%), but if I force recheck, the entire program freezes and will not recover. This is despite having plenty of seeders, and will continue for hours. It says there is no data remaining, yet the progress bar stays at 99.9% with a status of downloading. However as the download finishes, it hangs before completing. When I add a new torrent, it begins downloading, and everything looks normal. Anything after that is suspect.The last week I've been having a persistent problem with utorrent 2.2.1, which causes me to consistently need to restart utorrent, and download torrents twice. 1.6 Standard is the last REAL version of Utorrent. Simply looking at who bought the program and who is now updating the code should be enough to convince anybody that the Utorrent we knew is gone. The backlash against Utorrent is not FUD. Too bad it wasn't made Open Source so someone could continue on the work in the right way. Bearshare, Utorrent, what's next? They are letting their money do the fighting for them and have ruined what was a fantastic product. If the RIAA and MPAA can't kill 'em, they buy 'em and reprogram them. My only issue as of now is making sure I have my RSS. So qBittorrent looked the most appealing and so far I like it. I want to use a different client other than the outdated 2.2.1 Utorrent, plus I feel it runs slow as an application compared to others. Whatever happens from this point forward is no longer something he's involved in, I believe. Switching from Utorrent 2.2.1 to qBittorrent or maybe another client, need some help. I don't see why anybody would want to, especially with the original author no longer coding the program. I for one do not wish to support ANY effort by someone so chummy with the RIAA and MPAA, period. If you wish to use Utorrent, I'd simply say stay with the 1.6 Standard final version and do not use anything after that release.

The fact that Utorrent is now owned and being updated by people that have signed agreements with the RIAA and MPAA and NOT the original programmer, should give anybody pause. That version should be safe I believe and is still an excellent client. Utorrent 1.6 Standard, the last final build, was done before the company was purchased and the new code written.
